Does anyone here live in the Desert Color area or have any insight into pros/cons of living there? My husband and I are moving to St George for his job and are interested in that area. Any suggestions on a good neighborhood for 2 folks in their 30s who are not Mormon and love hiking, dogs, beer and music - I am all ears!

It's still lower than California, though, and I think that a lot of people are still moving here from there.

Hey Ashley, welcome to boop and thanks for joining! As far as your question goes, Desert Color is a fairly new subdivision. It's supposed to be rather fancy. I think a lot of it is still being built out.
Pros: You're close to both I-15 and Southern Pkwy (The beginning of St. George's first belt route). That should make getting around town pretty easy.
You're really close to BigShots golf (identical to Top Golf) if you're into that.
You'll be close to a few pretty decent hiking trails, however the really good stuff is generally more on the North side of town.
There are several good dog parks though I'm not sure if there are any super close to Desert Color.
Cons: There are a lot of retirees in that area due to it being so close to Sun River...the big retirement community...so I'm not 100% sure what the demographics in Desert Color will be.
There aren't a ton of beer options in the St. George area in general. There are a couple of breweries on the North side of town. I guess there is one fairly close to where you'll be living as well, but again...not a ton of options.
Finally, if you're going to live in Desert Color, I'd recommend a good pest control service that can treat scorpions. A lot of the newer developments have stirred up the little critters so you may see some around. However getting your house treated should take care of that.
